PERCEIVED BENEFIT OF EXERCISES AMONG PREGNANT MOTHERS ATTENDING ANTE NATAL CLINIC IN NKANU EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA.

Abstract

This study investigated the perceived benefit of exercises among pregnant mothers
attending ante natal clinic in Nkanu east local government area. A survey research
design was used for the study. The population of the study comprises of all the pregnant
women in the twenty (20) hospitals in Nkanu East L.G.A. A sample size of one hundred
(100) pregnant women was used. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire.
The instrument was validated by three experts, two (2) from the department of health
education and one from the department of Measurement and Evaluation all in Enugu
State College of Education technical Enugu. Reliability of the instrument was determined
using test-retest method using spearman rank order to arrive at a score of 0.92 indicating
that the research instrument is reliable. Mean statistic was used for data analysis.
Findings showed that brisk walk, swimming, yoga exercise. Exercises has positive benefit
on pregnant mothers in Nkanu East Local Government Area. Recommendation was made
among others that higher bodies in the community should organized seminars and
conferences among resident to educate them on the relevant of exercise on pregnant
women and internet management should create awareness on their platform on the
importance of exercise on pregnant women so as to encourage more people toward
practicing exercise.
